Sutures in Time: Short Films
At 2220 Arts + Archives
Sutures in Time: Short films is an evening of artists’ films co-curated by Anna Cho-Son and artist Gelare Khoshgozaran. This series of recent works ponder various encounters as moments of contact: how does contact take on a life of its own? From diverging timelines catalyzed by displacement to the stillness of longing and strategies for intervention, these films wade through the dialectical relationships promised by proximity—and into perforating memories, wandering eyes, and precision without resolution.
The films take the viewer on an interscalar journey through time, from the mythological to the geological, the tactile, and the eidetic. Time is materialized in rock formations, scars, truncated trees, and the unretainable. Each artist takes up the fluid transformation between time and place in moving images to think through the political possibilities that emerge from cycles of amnesia, deformation, recollection, and regeneration.
