Sophie (she/her) is a writer of plays, songs, and nonfiction, and a multi-disciplinary performer from Los Angeles. She is excited to return home this summer after graduating from Harvard College, where, through her American History & Literature degree, she built an interdisciplinary toolkit in art historical analysis, feminist anthropology, environmental history methodology, and archival research. Sophie is passionate about understanding human-nature relationships in Los Angeles through the environmental humanities, with experience working at the public space non-profit Investing in Place and writing on the history of LA’s urban forest! Having been a writer for the Harvard Advocate, a director and producer of original student theater, and an assistant-teacher for weekend kids’ classes at the American Repertory Theater, Sophie sees her broad experience as united by a love for organizing meaningful gatherings, using art to create cultures of care, and working to encourage mindful relationships to the land we live on and to each other. She is honored and excited to support and learn from the work of Active Cultures this summer!
