Aaron Tupac
Aaron Tupac (they/them) is a conservation mycologist and author of the upcoming book Meeting the Mushrooms of Los Angeles: Curiosity, Queerness, and How to Love a Fungus. They are the founder and organizer of Exploring the Mycoverse, a values-based fungi-inspired community in Los Angeles focused on building better relationship with the more-than-human world. Aaron is also the founder and chair of the North American Mycological Association’s Conservation and Stewardship Committee.
Aaron works for the Fungal Diversity Survey, where they serve as a fungi collector for the California Fungal Diversity Survey project, the first government-funded statewide project of its kind to map the state’s funga.
Aaron teaches throughout the greater Los Angeles area at institutions like Arlington Garden, Los Angeles Public Libraries, California Native Plant Society, Theodore Payne Foundation, and local universities such as the University of Southern California, Occidental College, and Pomona College.
