Shanhuan is an interspecies inquirer and filmmaker composting established methods of cinematic storytelling to alchemize extractive methods of production into regenerative rituals, oriented towards making real the possibilities of speculative worlds by utilizing collective storytelling as a transformative cultural practice. They also facilitate a roaming tea ritual that opens nonlinear spacetimes for interbeing, and facilitate collective studies of interspecies collaboration and the aesthetics of multispecies thriving. Their films have been selected in prestigious festivals across the world, ranging from BISFF in Busan, South Korea to SFIndies in San Francisco. Shanhuan participated as a fellow in Emergence Magazine’s Seeds of Radical Renewal spiritual ecology leadership program, Justice 4 My Sister’s BIPOC Sci-fi Screenwriting Lab, and offers course on the Interspecies Artist’s way through venues like New Moon Mycology Summit, School of Making Thinking and Abrons Arts Center.
